Senator Tammy Baldwin Continues “Hands Off Medicaid” Tour in Superior
SUPERIOR, Wis. — As US Senator Tammy Baldwin continues her “Hands Off Medicaid Tour,” she made a stop in Superior to talk with community members who could be affected.
Senator Baldwin is pushing back against the plan to slash Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for billionaires, which is backed by President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans.
Medicaid, widely known as Badger Care in Wisconsin, provides care for more than 1.2 million people across the state.
The plan could kick over 228,000 Wisconsinites off their health insurance.
On Thursday, Senator Baldwin met with Superior residents who are Medicaid recipients or care for someone with Medicaid, hearing who these cuts would impact them.
“Republicans have said all they’re doing is paring back against waste, fraud and abuse, but as we heard very clearly today, that is not what they’re doing. They’re going to take eligible people, take their health care away, and so these these individuals are telling their stories and fighting back, and know that we all have power to do that,” Senator Baldwin said.
Senator Baldwin encourages people to reach out to elected officials to share why Medicaid is important, and address how detrimental these cuts could be.
