Moose Lake/Willow River Softball Hoping 4th Time is the Charm at State
The Rebels will meet Badger/Greenbush-Middle River in a 2023 Class A semifinal rematch.
MOOSE LAKE, Minn.- Playing at Caswell Park in Mankato is nothing new for the Moose Lake/ Willow River softball team.
That’s because the Rebels are state bound for the 4th straight year.
Moose Lake/Willow River will get a chance at redemption in the first round. In a rematch of the 2023 Class A semifinals, the Rebels are set to battle Badger/Greenbush- Middle River.
Last time out it went the Gators way, 2 to 1.
If it were to go the Rebels way this time, they say those past experiences will help them get over the top.
“I think they’re really hungry for it. We’ve been there before. We though we could’ve won it a couple of years there, we came in 2nd and 3rd. I think they’re really hungry to try to take that state championship home,” said head coach Kelly Goeb.
“I feel like we’ve had a solid group of us that have gone obviously four years. Then the new girls coming in, we’re teaching them the ways. They’re picking up super fast and they have little skills and stuff that help us in that and help us achieve,” added pitcher Mackenzie Hoffmann.
The Rebels, who last appeared in the state title game in 2022, begin action with the Gators at 5:30 on Tuesday.
