‘Storywalk’ Introduced at Billings Park Boat Launch Trail

SUPERIOR, Wis.– The boat launch in Billings Park in Superior just got a lot more interactive, today they celebrated the introduction of a new Storywalk.

Storywalks have been popping up on trails around the nation.

But the one at the boat launch was inspired by the memory of two longtime Friends of Superior Public Library.

It features 18 signs along the trail, telling stories about nature and the outdoors.

Right now, ‘One Dog Canoe’ by Mary Casanova is showcased, and over time, the signs will rotate with new stories.

“And it was that thought that this quiet trail here by the water would be a really beautiful spot. It winds around a corner, and it just kind of lends itself to the progression of a story. As you discover what happens in the story, you discover what happens on the trial,” said Sue Heskin, Library Director, Superior Public Library.

The stories will stay at the park all year long and are meant to withstand the elements.
