Wednesday Evening Northland Forecast: 6/4/2025

Blue Skies Are Back

Thank you, Jetstream! The Air Quality Alerts for Minnesota and Wisconsin have been allowed to expire. There is one more alert in effect for the rest of today, for Gogebic and Ontonagon counties in the far western portion of the U.P. of Michigan. Otherwise, we have the ‘all clear,’ for now. It is likely that we’ll be feeling the effects of the wildfires in Canada for much of the rest of the summer. The fires don’t put themselves out. And, unless they get a whole lot of rain up there, there is plenty of fuel to keep the fires burning for a long time. So, we say goodbye to the smoke….for now.

A weak area of high pressure has built into the Northland for today, and the first half of Thursday. Today, we have blue skies and sunshine, and highs in the mid 70s, which is several degrees above average, but very nice. Thursday will start sunny, with a high about 75. But by tomorrow night, a 50% chance for rain sneaks into the forecast. I’m totally fine with that, as we need the moisture. With partly sunny skies, there is also a 60% chance for rain on Friday, with a cooler high of 67. Saturday looks partly sunny, with a high of 72. Then, we have a good chance of showers, and maybe a few thunderstorms on Sunday, with a high of 68. Even though rain on the weekend is not preferable, I’m happy to get it anytime we can. I’d love to see a week of rain, and put a damper on these persistent wildfires. So, if you have plans to mow your yard this weekend, do it on Saturday. That’s what I’ll be doing.

For today, enjoy the sunshine, blue skies, and FRESH AIR!
