Duluth City Council at Large Candidate: Asher Estrin-Haire
DULUTH, Minn. – A local business owner is making another run for Duluth city council at large.
Asher Estrin-Haire, the owner of Stitchcraf Quilt Factory in Lakeside, is making his second run for Duluth City Council. Estrin-Haire is running for one of the two ‘at-large’ seats that are up for election in November.
The small business owner said he would focus on addressing the city’s lack of housing, and in making Duluth affordable for everyone. “I would like to change the hand-wringing about the housing problems, the housing crisis,” Estrin-Haire said, “because it’s not something that an out-of-state developer is going to fix.”
Estrin-Haire added, “An out-of-state developer will come in and build something and believe that people will give up their homes and move into a downsized condo that costs more. Opening their homes up for somebody who makes less money. And that’s not actually true. Those homes are snapped up by one roof. Those homes are snapped up by investors that are turned into Airbnbs.”
