Duluth Marshall Baseball Emerges Victorious in Section 7AA Title Game

The Hilltoppers will learn who their first-round opponent at State is on Saturday morning.

SUPERIOR, Wis.- In prep baseball, Duluth Marshall and Proctor battled it out for the section 7AA title on Thursday night.

It was a back-and-forth battle between the Hilltoppers and the Rails as it was tied 2 to 2 through the first two complete innings.

In the bottom of the third, the Hilltoppers took the lead after a two-run shot from Marshall’s infielder Aaden Westerbur.

Duluth Marshall claims the Section 7AA title defeating the Rails 6 to 3, to punch their ticket to the State Tournament for the first time since 2022.

“Anything in your life that’s going to be worth it is going to be hard and this section every year is super super super hard,” said Hilltopper head coach Nick Garramone. “Someone’s got to come up with that clutch hit and you saw that today with A-West with a bomb. All year it has been a different guy in every game, every situation. So, it’s again another win for us.”

Westerburs home run in the third inning was his first of his high school career.

” I saw it fly, and I was like oh boy, no way that’s gone, I don’t got that type of juice, but then I looked up and I was just, I don’t even know. I just saw it go, and I was like yes finally good to get one,” said Westerbur. ” We got to keep doing what we are doing. Go down to St. Cloud and hopefully just keep hitting the baseball well.”
