John S. Werner 5k This Saturday

DULUTH, Minn. — The Veterans Memorial Hall is holding their Annual 5k this Saturday.

This 5k is held in honor of Command Sergeant Major John S. Werner.

He began the race seventeen years ago, which went on until the pandemic.

After he passed in 2023, the race was brought back and renamed after him.

Proceeds will go to the Veterans Memorial Hall to fund other programs and projects.

“He was a very strong supporter of veterans and veterans’ activities, and I think it’s only fitting that we continue his legacy, because he did offer so much of his time his talent, to ensure that the veterans in this area got recognition for the sacrifices that they’ve made throughout the years.” said Ronald Hein, Race Director

The race takes place this Saturday at nine am in Woodland.

There will be a short ceremony before the race at The Other Place Bar and Grill.
