KYN: Bailey Builds Crafts a Coffee Shop

DULTUH, Minn. — Bailey Builds is a community driven space right off of North 56th Avenue in Duluth. They’re known for their impressive art display, or simply a place to get to know some peers.
But now, they recently crafted something new for everyone to enjoy.

“I know they love community. You know, it’s that’s the whole, the whole idea of putting this store here was to help bolster the community,” said Corey Roysdon, the store manager. “I mean, our motto is inspiring Community through art and a coffee shop is a natural next step.”

The introduction of the coffee shop is meant to build off of what they established back in 2015. And with that opportunity, it was a chance for the team to experiment with specialty drinks.

“It was a definitely, definitely a team effort,” said Roysdon. “So the moderns that we have on this collection here, like all of our signature drinks, that was something that I got to help put the recipes together, and then, like, took it to the team, we sampled out some good stuff, and everybody had, like, a say in what works and what doesn’t, and it’s been curating.”

Bailey Builds and Friends had a soft launch for their coffee shop recently. One of those customers visited with her daughter all the way from Michigan and stumbled upon it online.

“My daughter let us know that it was on social media, is where she saw it, that it was a new shop, and we were interested in trying it, and it’s, it’s a great place. Has a great vibe, wonderful coffee, great gifts,” said Deanna Laukka, a customer. “We’re loving it.”

And for her, there was more to enjoy than just the coffee itself.

“Well, I loved the entrance,” said Laukka. “We all kind of gasped just coming in and seeing the entrance, of the flowers, the birds, the decor hanging from the ceiling was immediately like, oh, cool place. So we were impressed right from the start.”

“This is way different than what I’ve seen before and being that it’s local people that you can support,” said Roysdon. “I think that’s a really, really, a great thing.”

And so whether you’re there enjoying a crafted coffee drink or to take in the beautiful artwork. It’s safe to say there’s something for everyone in this small community.
