Harbor Pointe Credit Union Donates $20,000 to Chum
DULUTH, Minn. — Harbor Pointe Credit Union presented Chum with a check donation on Wednesday.
Each year the Credit Union gives back thousands of dollars to support local organizations and programs.
Through the Member Impact Fund offered by an affiliate bank, the donation to Chum was matched three times, making the total $20,000.
The donation will go towards supporting everyday costs at the shelter, and support Chum through its upcoming expansion, which will double its current bed space.
“The costs have gone up to provide these services, because it does take cash to care and we need more because we are doing more. And so it’s great to have $20,000 from our good neighbors at Harbor Pointe Credit Union,” John Cole, Chum Executive Director said.
Renovation to the Chum shelter is expected to begin this year, the space will aim to accommodate the growing homeless population in Duluth.
