Cross City Trail Tour Teaches Locals about the St. Louis River
DULUTH, Minn. – Locals strapped on their helmets and toured the St. Louis River this evening.
Community members were invited to participate in biking the Cross-City Trail, which consisted of a 4-mile round-trip tour put on by the St. Louis River Alliance. The bike tour showcased the natural beauty of the St. Louis River while teaching locals about the areas of concern that have been restored through decades of hard work and rebuilding the community’s connection to the river.
“We’ll be stopping at 40th Avenue, West ponds, behind Erie pier, and then also out at the Polk Street pumpsaid Alyssa Johnson, program manager for St. Louis River Alliance. “We hope to really help the community connect to the river and have a hands-on experience where they can see where the work’s been done.”
Touring these trails helps inform locals and visitors about the St. Louis River and how far it has come.
