Brewster’s Birthday Bash Raises $2K For Animal Allies
DULUTH, Minn. — Brewster, Dan Hanger’s adopted dog, has turned 15! The community celebrated his big milestone Tuesday in the Fitger’s Courtyard while raising money for Animal Allies Humane Society.
Around 200 people stopped by for Brewster’s Birthday Bash, and that included dogs! A Place For Fido, which is located in Fitger’s, helped organize the event during its Tuesday evening Doggy Yappy Hour. Twin Ports Pet Sitters was also a big help to make the event possible.
There were t-shirts for sale, a raffle, hotDOGs and other goodies. Those sales added up to nearly $2,000 for Animal Allies.
“We saw Dan post on social media that Brewster’s birthday was coming up, and he kind of wanted to make an event out of it, and we both kind of reached out to each other at the same time, like, do you think this, this would be a good collab, because Dan has just been such a longtime supporter of us, and we obviously adore him and adore Brewster, so it kind of just spiraled into something bigger than I think any of us kind of imagined.” said Nicole Fauciotto, adoption manager at Animal Allies, “I’ve seen a lot of senior dogs come by today, and it’s a great reminder that just because they’re a little bit older, they still have so much love and life to give somebody. So, if you’ve been thinking about adopting, don’t overlook those, those senior ones that are getting a little gray, because they can still come out and party just as good as the rest of us.”
Doggy Yappy Hour during its normal event includes doggy bags, free samples, discounted treats for the dogs, and more. This week was just a little extra special with Brewster as the star.
“We’re actually really honored to be the host here for his birthday party, just because we’ve been using his face on our logo for our Yappy Hour event since I think 2017, so we were so honored that we were able to host this for him. It’s so much fun,” said Jamie Parent, owner of A Place for Fido.
The event was a group effort as quite a few local businesses collaborated to put the event together.
Businesses at Fitger’s created a nearly $600 raffle basket.
Derek Medved, owner of local KornerStores, donated food, chips and drinks.
Nathan Bentley, owner of Advantage Emblem, donated Brewster Bash t-shirts.
The Boat Club Restaurant provided its courtyard for the event.
Encore Event & Party Express donated chairs and tables.
