Giant Peanut on Wheels Rolls Into Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. — The iconic PLANTERS NUTmobile, weighing the equivalent of 3 million peanuts, is hard to miss — and it’s making a stop in the Northland as part of its nationwide tour.

“Everyone’s pretty shocked to see a 26-foot-long peanut on wheels driving down the road,” said Hudson Richie, one of three “Peanutters” traveling coast to coast.

Richie and his crew are part of a year-long campaign aimed at spreading smiles — and, of course, peanuts.

“We basically just shell out peanuts and shell out smiles,” Richie said. “We go around, try to brighten everyone’s day and have a good time.”

The team is working to visit all 48 continental states, making stops for local events, media appearances, and community outreach.

“So it’s a year-long opportunity,” Richie added. “We travel from east to west… we do social media, events, and local news stations as well.”

Though it wasn’t exactly the career path he envisioned, Richie says he’s loving every mile of the nutty adventure.

“I did not plan on this being in my future, but I’m very happy that it is.”

The NUTmobile will be in Duluth through July 2. If you’re interested in becoming a future Peanutter, visit plantersnutmobile.com.
