Pre-Independance Day Fireworks Excitement is Skyrocketing

SOUTH RANGE, Wis.– Customers are wasting no time getting their firework fix.

“I think everybody’s feeling pretty patriotic this year and looking to celebrate good,” beamed Jason Deatherage, owner of ‘KG Fireworks’.

But before it gets to the customers, there’s a lot to keep in mind leading up to it.

“We always try to be prepared and have a lot this year, especially with the tariffs and stuff, it, kind of made us all more aware that, you know, buy early. And so, we did. We bought early, so then we didn’t have to have any of the high tariff price stuff,” said Deatherage.

Many of which makes it an annual tradition, including the owner himself.

“We have been doing this for twelve years now. It is just so much fun seeing the kids that were just, you know, tiny little toddlers now teenagers coming and helping their parents pick stuff out, and the memories that they’ve had over the past 12 years of coming in and getting those special items and they’ll find new special items and kind of seeing that excitement grow,” said Deatherage.

As for this specific shop, ‘KG Fireworks’ they are proud to cater to many different firework enthusiasts.

From the classic sparklers, and novelty fireworks. To the big and bold, high in the sky displays.

The owner told FOX 21 that a large amount of their customer base are first time firework buyers.

But before any of this happens, safety is always first.

“When something happens because people aren’t informed or educated on how to do it, then they tend to kind of shy away from it next time. And so, we always make sure their first experience is a good and safe one, and they keep coming back to do it again,” said Deatherage.

And so, when you see or hear the big booms on Independence Day, you have to appreciate the explosive passion behind this tradition.
