DULUTH, Minn. — As Navy Week continues in Duluth, sailors got in the water, this time to feed some fish.

Members of the U.S Navy stopped by the Great Lakes Aquarium to do some community outreach, teaching kids and families about the history and importance of the Navy.

To promote the influence of marine animals to the Navy, two sailors suited up and entered the sturgeon tank for feeding time.

The sailors got to learn about the fish and how to properly feed them, the sturgeons enjoyed the company and the snacks.

One sailor said it’s important for the Navy to showcase what they do and teach others.

“Here in Duluth, we’re not an ocean coastal area, so some of these areas a little more inland, they don’t necessarily have that daily exposure to the US Navy, so the kids here might not necessarily be exposed to that on a day to day basis. So this could be an exposure and show them a potential maybe future for them,” Kali Janssen, Navy Hospital Corpsman, Second Class said.

So far Navy Week has been packed full of events, many filled with educational activities. Navy Week will wrap up this weekend at the Duluth Air Show.
