Charges for Duluth Hillside Apartment Assault and Knife Threats
DULUTH, Minn. – A woman is threatened with a knife after walking in on an active domestic assault, charges allege.
Ray Charles Brantley, 65, is charged with second-degree terroristic threats and domestic assault for an incident that occurred at an apartment on the 200 block of North 2nd Ave East around 3:00 a.m. Sunday. Duluth Police responded to the apartment, following a neighbor’s 911 call.
The neighbor told responding officers that Brantley’s girlfriend had called her asking for help, according to the criminal complaint. Brantley and his girlfriend were allegedly arguing when the neighbor arrived at the apartment. The neighbor claimed that Brantley punched his girlfriend with a closed fist, and when the neighbor interjected, Brantley pulled out a knife and threatened her.
In her statement to police, the neighbor alleged Brantley said, “You wanna help her out? I’m gonna kill you too.” The complaint said she provided police with photos, reportedly showing Brantley holding the knife in the apartment’s doorway.
