STARBASE Explorers Joined by U.S. Navy Guest Speaker
DULUTH, Minn. – The STARBASE explorers ended their graduation launch ceremony TODAY, with a special guest speaker from the U.S. NAVY
As part of Duluth Navy Week, the STARBASE explorers wrapped up their week-long STEM summer camp with a graduation launch ceremony, where they showcased the hands-on skills they learned. The event was made even more special by a visit from Captain Dale Gregory, the commanding officer of the USS Ronald Reagan, who shared stories of his journey and encouraged students to keep exploring science and leadership.
“I talked to the kids about what I’ve done in the Navy as a naval flight officer and the importance of the education that I received and of trying new things, of not being afraid to try different things in life and to continue your learning process,” said Captain Dale Gregory Jr. commanding officer, USS Ronald Reagan.
Held during the Navy’s 205th anniversary, the ceremony highlights the power of early STEM education and the Navy’s commitment to inspiring the next generation.
“When we do this launch ceremony, we culminate our week with a guest speaker who has a STEM career,” said Jessica Gudmundson, instructor at STARBASE. “So you can’t ask videos a question about their career, but you can ask a guest speaker. So we bring in someone that the kids can talk with and actually get their questions answered.”
If you were unable to get your kids signed up for this session, don’t worry, there are multiple sessions offered throughout the summer.
