Heads up for drivers in Eveleth—bridge construction is about to impact travel next week.

From July 15th through the 18th, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be placing new bridge beams at Highway 53 and Highway 37. During the daytime work hours, flaggers will direct traffic on Highway 37, with drivers facing delays of up to 10 minutes while the beams are moved into place.

Highway 53 will stay open to through traffic, and existing car and truck detours for Highway 53 will remain in effect through late August.

MnDOT is reminding drivers to obey speed limits, put phones away, and give workers plenty of space. Speeding fines in work zones start at $300.

You can find project maps and updates at dot.state.mn.us, or check real-time traffic info anytime at 511mn.org or through the 511 app.

Again, that bridge work begins July 15—so if you’re heading through Eveleth, be prepared and give yourself extra time.
