Marsolek Adjust to College Pitching with Huskies Before College Career at St. Thomas
Marsolek joined the pitching crew of the Duluth Huskies for the second half of the season.
DULUTH, Minn.- Former Marshall Hilltopper and 2025 Mr. Baseball award winner Owen Marsolek will continue his baseball career at the college level.
He is set to play for St. Thomas next season. But before he heads to Minneapolis, he is getting a few more games under his belt at Wade Stadium.
Marsolek joined the pitching crew of the Duluth Huskies for the second half of the season.
The former Hilltopper has pitched in four games for the Huskies and has posted a 2-1 record.
Marsolek is coming off a spectacular year with the Hilltoppers.
Leading the team to their first state tournament appearance since 2022.
The Duluth native is using his time with the Huskies to learn how to pitch against collegiate athletes before he begins his college career at St. Thomas.
“Currently I’m working on adjusting to the tighter college strike zone. It’s a lot different than high school. Also, I’m working on adjusting to mix with all my pitches. I can’t just keep throwing fastballs to the guys that can compete. I got to compete with everybody, and anybody can hit it out of the park here,” said Marsolek.
Playing at Wade Stadium as a Husky rather than a Hilltopper has been a full-circle moment for Marsolek.
“Kind of like a dream come true. I’ve watched these guys play for the past ten to twelve years. It’s just like playing for your hometown team. Similar to me playing at St. Thomas in Minnesota. My parents get to come watch me play a lot more which is really fun for me,” said Marsolek.
The Huskies are back in action on Friday, July 18th, against the La Crosse Loggers.
