Duluth Federal Prison Camp to stay open
DULUTH, Minn. – The Federal Prison Camp in Duluth will be staying open.
Representative Pete Stauber say the decision followed a recent visit to the camp by William Marshall, the newly appointed Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
In a statement Rep. Stauber said, “I am overjoyed by the news that the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth will remain open, and that the 90 federal employees who currently work there will remain employed…. During last week’s visit to FPC Duluth, Director Marshall was able to see firsthand the prison’s top-notch programming, dedicated employees, and the value it brings to our community.
Senator Tina Smith also released a statement saying, ““These employees are essential to the local economy and have deep roots in Duluth. They deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and shouldn’t have been forced to choose between their careers and their community.”
