Large-Scale Development Project Takes Shape in Proctor
PROCTOR, Minn. – The Proctor Economic Development Authority and NGP Development held an informational open house regarding a large development project.
People were invited to the Proctor Area Community Center to learn about and discuss the huge proposed development on Kirkus Street. This was an opportunity for community members to view project details and speak with the development team and PEDA representative. The project aims to enhance recreational and economic opportunities throughout Proctor by adding a hotel, housing, restaurants, retail, a large indoor sports complex, and a synthetic ice rink.
“It’s exciting to be able to do something different in an area, and with lots of development, we have hotels, apartments, and daycare, and it’s all a group of business leaders and individuals, both private and public,” said Beth Wentzlaff, partner of NGP. “This is all a private development, a non-profit, and a for-profit.”
The project’s impact is expected to extend well beyond Proctor, benefiting surrounding communities.
“The development of the large Sports Complex that’s being planned here will draw even more people to the metropolitan area, and all the communities in the metropolitan area are going to benefit as a result of that,” said Eric Madson, chairperson for PEDA.
It has been a long project in the making, and now with final approvals secured, the development team will move forward in phases, starting with soil boring.
