Spongy Moth Spraying begins in Northern Minnesota
DULUTHJ, Minn. — Spongy Moth spraying in Minnesota was planned to start July 16th.
If the weather cooperates, spraying will occur over through the 22nd.
Low flying planes will be spreading a non-toxic substance at 24 sites in Aitkin, Carlton, Itasca, Pine and St. Louis counties.
The substance does not harm humans, animals, or other insects.
It works by confusing male spongy moths making it harder for them to find female spongy moths.
A map of the management areas and other resources can be found on the Minnesota Department of Agricultures Website.
