DirecTV subscribers lose access to FOX 21 amid contract dispute

FOX21 KQDS-TV is working hard to reach a new agreement with DirectTV Network so that DirectTV can once again provide FOX21 to its subscribers.  DirectTV and FOX21 came to an impasse negotiating the renewal that would allow DirectTV Network to retransmit the station’s signal.

As a result, FOX21 is no longer being carried by DirectTV as of  July  17, 2025.

DirectTV was granted numerous extensions in the hopes of coming to a fair agreement.

FOX21 KQDS is a small TV broadcaster, one of the few left. DirectTV Network is a multi-billion-dollar company.

While we had hoped to conclude a new agreement without disruption, DirectTV has continued to insist on new terms and conditions that on a whole in the current economic environment are less favorable than the previous agreement, while seeking to pay fees that are substantially below market rates. We believe DirectTV has been neither fair nor reasonable and has been using its size to attempt to force us into a bad agreement. Market-based rates are critical to us to be able to deliver the top quality programming you have come to expect.

Please understand that FOX21 KQDS-TV continues to remain available over the air via an antenna. You can determine the type of antenna needed at https://www.antennaweb.org/antenna-info.

In addition, FOX21 KQDS-TV is available via cable from Spectrum, Paul Bunyan, Midco, SCI and via satellite from: DISH Network and streaming from: FUBO, Hulu + LIVE TV and YouTube TV.
