Lumberjack World Championships Sees New World Record!

HAYWARD, Wisc. — Hayward was buzzing this past weekend with the 65th annual Lumberjack World Championships.

Over 100 competitors from 7 countries and 16 states came to compete.

Timber sports athletes displayed their mastery of sawing, chopping, speed climbing, log rolling, boom running, and axe throwing.

The Men’s All-Around Champion was Matt Cogar from Grafton, West Virginia Taking home his 8th all-Around world Championship Title.

The Women’s All-Around Champion was Stephanie Naud from Sutton, Quebec, taking home her First All-Around World Championship Title.

This year’s competition also resulted in a new world record in the Women’s Standing Chop.

Hayward Native Kate Witkowski powered through the log in just 21.17 seconds.
