City Council Tables Daycare Zoning Proposal for Further Review
DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth City Council decided to table the ordinance regarding daycare facilities.
The Duluth City Council tabled a proposed zoning change that would make it easier to open daycare centers in residential areas without a special use permit. Councilors stated that they require additional time to ensure everything is finalized and ready before proceeding.
“What we’re really looking for is giving some more opportunities to broader places for childcare facilities to exist, and after meeting with some of the childcare folks, the ordinance isn’t quite right so counselor Swanson and I did some amendments to it, and after Attorney Lehr reviewed it, she said hey can you give us a little bit more,” said Lynn Nephew, Duluth City Council vice president.
Council Vice President Nephew says they are hoping to have it back up for discussion this Thursday and ready for the next official council meeting.
