Department of Public Safety creates tip program to help advance missing and murdered Indigenous relatives’ cases
Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) Office will announce the official opening of the state’s Gaagige-Mikwendaagoziwag Reward Fund Tip Program.
Lawmakers established the state’s Gaagige-Mikwendaagoziwag Reward Fund Account during the 22-23 legislative session.
The purpose of the fund’s tip program is to bring resolution and justice to impacted families by offering financial rewards up to $10,000 for tips in eligible long-term missing persons, suspicious death and homicide investigations.
The fund also supports community awareness, collaborative search efforts and prevention initiatives.
