Man faces charges after Highway 53 chase
VIRGINIA, Minn. — A man was taken into custody on Sunday after a police pursuit ended in Eveleth.
At about 11:30 am Sunday July 20, 2025, Saint Louis County Deputies received an alert of a suspect in connection to Domestic assault, no contact order violation, weapons possession, and threats to law enforcement and the general public.
The incident originated in Isanti County, and the suspect was travelling northbound.
The suspects’ vehicle was located on Highway 53 just north of Whiteface River.
An attempt to stop the suspect with spike sticks failed and he continued northbound.
He crashed through construction barricades on the southside of Eveleth, then struck a St. Louis County Deputy’s Squad on the passenger side and partially head on.
A second squad was able to pull in and pin the vehicle ending the pursuit.
The man was taken into custody and cleared by Essentia Health Virginia.
Minor injuries to a deputy were reported as a result of the collision, but they did not require immediate medical attention.

He was arrested on charges of 2nd Degree Assault, fleeing in a motor vehicle, 4th Degree Assault, driving after revocation, No Seatbelt, and Littering in addition to the charges he will face in Isanti County.
