Man sentenced for murder of Chantel Moose

DULUTH, Minn. – Darrius Lamar Plummer, 35, was sentenced to nearly 19-years in prison for the death of Chantel Moose.

He fatally stabbed Chantel Moose in the neck while she stood outside a bar located at 109 West First Street, in Duluth.

On May 20, 2025, a jury found Plummer guilty.

On July 22, 2025 Louis County District Court Judge Leslie Beiers sentenced Darrius Lamar Plummer to 225 Months in prison for the Second-Degree Murder without intent while committing a Felony.  The sentence was not reduced in time because the court found the murder “senseless.”

Plummer was later located and apprehended in Michigan by the United States Marshals Service.

County Attorney Kimberly Maki said, “The Court’s sentence reaffirms our community’s condemnation of the outrageous and pointless act of violence that took the life Chantel…  Our thoughts and condolences go out to Chantel’s family and friends.”

Chantel is survived by her daughter, Raena Rosado.
