Man accused of raping juvenile then giving her “Morning After Pill” birth control
MOUNTAIN IRON, Minn. – A man is accused of raping a juvenile girl then giving her the Plan B birth control “Morning After Pill” following the rape.
Eric Kye Gatewood, 22, Virginia is charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree.
Police documents say Gatewood took a juvenile victim to run an errand.
The victim then told police Gatewood allegedly drove her to a secluded area.
Gatewood parked the car and eventually forced sexual intercourse on the victim.
Following the rape, Gatewood allegedly retrieved a bottle of water and a pill from the trunk of the car.
Gatewood allegedly told the victim the pill was “Plan B”.
Gatewood returned the victim to their home.
The juvenile’s parent then reported the incident to police.
After receiving the report deputies took the victim’s statement.
Then deputies went to Gatewood’s home.
Deputies say Gatewood eventually exited his home and began “wipe down” parts of the interior of his car.
Deputies arrested Gatewood.
Deputies say they searched Gatewood’s car discovering, “a water bottle on the front passenger floor and a Plan B one-step pill box in the trunk.”
Gatewood is schedule to next be in court on Monday, July 28 for his initial appearance.
The charges carry a maximum sentence of 15-years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
