‘Mango’ the Lion Cub Has Successful Surgeries
SANDSTONE, Minn.– The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone rescued an 8-week-old lion cub last week.
On Monday, July 28, 2025 she had to undergo surgery to correct some genetic complications.
Mango the lion cub at the Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone was gearing up for surgery.
She had a herniated umbilical cord that caused her intestines to be restricted or trapped, Mango was also spayed.
This complication is due to unethical breeding that she was born into.
Sanctuary staff kept the public in the loop while it was happening, and they’re proud to say that everything was a success.
To see everything leading up to this surgery, Fox 21’s Emily Halling reported Mango’s story on Friday. You can read the full story here
