St. Louis County Fair: “The Five Best Days of Summer”

CHISHOLM, Minn. — Known in the Iron Range as the five best days of summer, the St. Louis County Fair has been a stable since 1885, and with the addition of new buildings, the fair continues to grow.

“We’ve been trying to improve everything around here. We’ve added new buildings. We added a year ago, we added a new cattle barn, which is a huge hit,” Joe Sopp, St. Louis County Fair President said.

There’s plenty to do and explore at the fair, from carnival games, to ride, to barn buildings full of all kinds of furry friends, and of course– food.

Many visitors make the trip to the fair an annual family tradition.

“We’ve been coming for a lot of years with my grandma back even when I was at the Hibbing raceway,” visitor Adam Johnson said.

Now those families are carrying on the tradition with the next generation.

“The fireball has been here for like, 30 years, so we’re going to go on that and see if I can get my nephew to cry, so we’ll be good,” Johnson said.

The organizers at the fair strive to make the experience the best possible, especially for kids.

“This is a family ordeal. We’re very it’s we stress highly to make things a family oriented experience. This is we do anything for the kids, anything we possibly can,” Sopp said.

The fair wrapped up on Sunday after fun days of fun.
