Xcel Energy Announces Ashland-Ironwood Transmission Rebuild Project

ASHLAND, Wisc. — Xcel Energy announced the start of construction on the Ashland-Ironwood Transmission Rebuild Project

Over the course of a few years’ crews will be rebuilding two power transmission lines previously built in the 50’s and 70’s.

The project will improve reliability and long-term growth across northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The three main phases will be prepping the installation sites, installing the new infrastructure, and removing the old infrastructure.

The full project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
