Essentia Health Foundation Hosts 24th Annual Legacy of Hope Golf Classic

DULUTH, Minn. — The Essentia Health Foundation hosted the 24th annual Legacy of Hope Golf Classic on Monday.

The 18-hole scramble saw golfers at Northland Country Club teeing off for a good cause.

The proceeds raised by the event go towards local health care programs and supports Essentia Health patients and their families

The funds also help provide state of the art care in Duluth and the smaller communities Essentia serves.

Many of the golfers in the classic make the event an annual tradition, showing their support each year.

“I think it’s important to remember that when you have an illness, every challenge that you had before you have the illness is still there, yet when you have that illness that makes those challenges more acute, more difficult to serve, and sometimes things need to get put on the back burner if you don’t have the funds and support,” Dr, David Herman, Essentia Health CEO & President said.

This year the golf classic had a tiki theme, so many golfers dawned tropical outfits while out on the course. While out on the course, people competed for the best chip, putt and longest drive

“We saw a lot of people that showed up with their Hawaiian shirts on. People enjoy getting dressed up a little bit. And also, we see that, as I mentioned, the same people come back year after year. That’s an opportunity for them to get together with their friends talk about the times they’ve had here before. And then, of course, support the Essentia Health Foundation,” Dr. Herman said.

After the round of golf, the teams had dinner and awards were handed out.

There was also silent auction items, with those proceeds also going towards the Essentia Health Foundation.
