Harbor Monsters Dominate in ArenaMania II, Capturing Back-to-Back Titles
The Harbor Monsters finished the season 8-2.
DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth Harbor Monsters’ quest for back-to-back ArenaMania titles continued on Saturday night.
The Harbor Monsters hosted the ArenaMania II championship game, welcoming in the Hot Springs Wiseguys.
A back-and-forth battle between the Harbor Monsters and the Wiseguys in the first half, with Duluth holding a 25 to 13 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Harbor Monsters ran away with the game, defeating the Wiseguys 56-27, to claim their second consecutive championship.
“All season long, we preached to win in all phases of football. Throw off, return, offense, defense,” said Harbor Monsters head coach Tony O’Neil. “We look for dogs, guys that aren’t going to quit in adversity, including the coaching staff. We just get after it. I don’t know how else to say it. It’s formulated at week one of camp, and we just excel all the way through.”
In a game where a title is on the line, the Harbor Monsters wanted to start the game out hot.
“Coach was on us all week about preparation. Being ahead and not being behind and come out fast and staying fast and finish fast. That’s what we did,” said wide receiver Jamal Couch.
The Harbor Monsters faced adversity all game but stayed together to claim their second consecutive championship.
“We work hard, we went through a lot of adversity, you know, it was a bunch of situations, but it was cool to overcome all of that together,” said quarterback Ja’Vonte Johnson. “I just want to thank Duluth, thank the whole community, thank all of our fans, so supportive, we have the best place to play in and it made it easy for us to win another championship.”
