Deborah DeLuca Appointed 2ND District City Councilor
DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth City Council unanimously voted in Deborah DeLuca to be the new temporary Second District Councilor.
DeLuca, recently retired from the Duluth Seaway Port Authority, decided to apply for the position of Second District Councilor. She initially went up against four other applicants during the first round of interviews, where she was voted as the councilor’s top choice.
“I am here to roll up my sleeves and go to work,” said DeLuca. “They have a lot of work to do in four and a half months. I know that it’s a tough budget year.”
She went on to the second round of interviews along with two other candidates, where DeLuca was again voted as the council’s top choice.
“I don’t feel like I’m coming in with an agenda or an axe to grind or something that I feel needs to get accomplished,” said DeLuca. “I do want to do a good job of presenting the second district.”
DeLuca is taking over for Mike Mayou, who stepped down after moving out of the district. She says she is ready to take on this position for the next four months until her temporary position is up.
