Duluth Police Department Hosts Annual Kids, Cops and Cars Event

DULUTH, Minn. — Kids got to learn about the life of first responders today at Bayfront Festival Park.

The Duluth Police Department hosted its annual Kids, Cops and Cars event to showcase the vehicles on the force.

Kids got to explore squad cars and see other law enforcement equipment, including drones and robots.

The event acts as a way to get cops and other first responders involved in the community, as well as teaching future generations about the different ways equipment can be used.

The event also had a K-9 demonstration, tug or war and other fun activities.

“You just build those relationships where you have time and to sit there and talk to kids and explain what we actually do and how things work and, you know, and then they have questions of why we do things, we can answer those also,” Lieutenant Ken Zwak with the Duluth Police Department said.

The event also serves as a way for kids and families to get to know the people who are serving and protecting the Duluth community.
