Huskies to Clash with Rockers in Search of their First-Ever World Series Title

It's been a three-year wait for the Huskies as they last appeared in the big game in 2022.

DULUTH, Minn.- It’s official it’ll be the Green Bay Rockers versus the Duluth Huskies in the Northwoods League Collegiate World Series.

It’s been a three-year wait for the Huskies as they last appeared in the big game in 2022.

Overall, Duluth has made the World Series four times previously, all of which however have resulted in a loss.

Field Manager Marcus Pointer is confident though that this year’s team will be the one’s to break the streak.

“Honestly kind of sticking to the same recipe that’s been going on here so far in the playoffs. We’ve gotten good starting pitching, some timely hitting, some quality defense, we’re running the bases. Again, we have multiple ways that we can put pressure on teams and we kind of showcased that over the course of the summer. Honestly, we’re fortunate that the league MVP is still here with us. You know that doesn’t really happen too often just with the power five, power four schools now. But, Ethan Surowiec is still with us and he kind of leads our charge and is a leader in our clubhouse too,” said Pointer.

Speaking of Surowiec, he says this Huskies team is one of the closest teams he’s ever been a part of.

“We’re just going to play together. No moment is too big for us. We all have love and trust in each other. Ultimately, I believe that the closest team will go the furthest. I think we’re a pretty close knit group and we’re excited for the challenge ahead,” said Surowiec.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 at the Wade.
