K-9 Teams Across the Northland Bring Excitement to Superior
SUPERIOR, WIS. – 18 K-9 teams from eight northland law enforcement agencies are showing off their skills up close and personal for the community.
Operation K-9 was held at the Wessman Arena in Superior, where the K-9 teams performed demonstrations showcasing the skills and professional bond of the K-9s and their handlers. Law enforcement officers allowed locals to meet the K-9s, tour the vehicles, grab some food, and check out the silent auction.
The event is put on by the Northland K-9 Foundation to help raise funds in support of these agencies, making it possible to purchase new K-9s and equipment.
“This is canine Kalli, and we’ve been together since 2019 so we’ve done this event for a number of years now, and it’s so cool to meet new fans, but then we get a lot of returning fans who are really big supporters of canine Kallie,” said Officer Jeremy O’Connor, Duluth K-9 handler.
The Northland K-9 Foundation supports 21 local K-9s and has given away more than 100-thousand dollars to the local agencies over the past year.
“It’s so important for the community to support these dogs, to support these officers. They do such a great service, from apprehending criminals all the way to finding lost people,” said Sharry Dalbec, attendee.
Law enforcement officers say if you see them around town to walk over and ask to pet the K-9s, as they are friendly.
