Northwestern Football Ready to Hit the Ground Running for their 2025 Campaign

A season ago, the Tigers made a deep playoff push reaching the WIAA State Semi-Final.

MAPLE, Wis.- The Northwestern Tiger football team hit the practice field last week gearing up for their 2025 campaign.

A season ago, the Tigers made a deep playoff push reaching the WIAA State Semi-Final round, where they fell 47 to 16 to Wrightstown.

After finishing last season with a 10-and-3 record, the Tigers enter this year with a strong senior class of 22 on the roster.

Northwestern understands that building a playoff-caliber team begins in the dog days of summer.

“The reality is we can’t go back to level four in one day. It takes a whole season of building and a lot of growth to advance in the playoffs. We’re back at square one, so we haven’t earned a thing yet. There is a lot of work to be done,” said  head coach Jovin Kroll. ” We’re probably more of a hard hitting downhill run team than we have been in the past few years.”

A key piece to the 2025 Northwestern Tigers team is their depth and experience at the offensive and defensive line.

“I don’t think we have an underclassman right now starting on the offensive line, we are seniors across the board. They’re experienced, they remember what we did last year, and are picking up where they left off,” said Kroll.

The Tigers will also count on the team chemistry that has been built over the years.

“There is a lot of team chemistry that’s built from the younger ages. That was brought up right up to high school so it’s a big piece for our team,” said defensive linemen Finley Nelson.

“Chemistry is definitely there with all the guys. We’ve been lifting playing football for like you said, three, four years together now,” said offensive linemen Noah Bourque.

The Tigers open up their season on the road against Prescott.

Kickoff between the Tigers and the Cardinals is at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 22.
