MN Attorney General Ellison Sues TikTok Over Predatory Features

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is suing TikTok for preying on young people with addictive algorithms and exploitative features.

It further explains how TikTok gets time, data, and money out of users by using predatory features like analyzing user data to serve personalized content and an infinite scroll to keep users swiping, and more.

The complaint takes special issue with the TikTok Live system, claiming it encourages excessive spending and exploitative conduct.

Attorney General Ellison asks the court to require major changes in how the company operates.

He also seeks financial penalties to address the harms that these practices have caused.
