Lakehead Harvest Show Returns for 64th Year

ESKO, Minn. — This weekend in Esko, people are going back in time to learn about some historic machinery.

The 64th annual Lakehead Harvest Show kicked off Friday. The three day show highlights local farming, through various activities and demonstrations.

The event allows visitors to see and understand real-world machinery like steam engines and a tractor powered sawmill, which are still functional despite their age.

There’s fun for all ages, even kids can get in on the action through a train ride, a kid-zone and the chance to drive a tractor.

“A lot of machineries you’re only going to see in places like this, you’re going to see steam power that you’re using fire using water, and they’re doing tasks that today they do with diesel or big electric engines. It’s very simplified, but it’s very neat. And a lot of this stuff is so old, but it’s still functional, they built it so well back then,” Ryan Hansen with Lakehead Harvest Reunion.

The harvest fest will continue Saturday and Sunday, with various activities happening throughout the weekend, including tractor pulls and daily parades.
