Missing man from Gogebic County found dead in Ashland County

Ashland County Sheriffs OfficeASHLAND, Wis. – The body of a man missing from Gogebic County for about a week was discovered Sunday night in Ashland County.

Ashland County Sheriff Brian Zupke reports on Sunday August 24, 2025, at approximately 5:05 P.M., the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office received a request to investigate a vehicle located in the Township of Morse.

This vehicle was believed to belong to Frank Wilson.

Wilson was a missing person from Gogebic County.

He suffered from dementia and was last seen in Gogebic County in the early morning hours of Thursday August 21st.

Deputies confirmed that the vehicle did belong to Mr. Wilson.

Wilson’s body was then discovered just before 11 P.M.

No foul play is suspected however, the circumstances surrounding his passing are currently under investigation by both the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sawyer County Search and Rescue team assisted with the search.
