A Perfect Labor Day Weekend

When you consider a long holiday weekend (Friday thru Monday), you hope that at least half the days will be nice. But, to get 3 or 4 decent weather days over that timespan? That seems unlikely. Yet, that is exactly what we are in store for, this Labor Day Holiday Weekend!

There is a stationary front off to our southwest, which may bring a little bit of rain to southern MN. But high pressure stretching to our east and west will keep us with clear skies, warm temps, low dew points, and light winds, all the way until Tuesday. The average high temp for today is 73, and we will have highs in the mid to upper 70s for the next three days. After that, it will cool down some, as a cold front will move in from the northwest, bringing us a good chance for rain (we need it), on Tuesday. Our high temps will drop into the 60s, and even the 50s for the latter part of next week.

Meteorological Autumn begins on September 1st. But, I have always favored Astronomical Autumn, which begins on September 22nd, this year. That is one of two days during the year, when the sun is directly over the equator, and the day and night have equal length. The other day is the first day of Astronomical Spring (around March 21st). So, in my world, we have 3 more weeks of summer. Let’s enjoy it!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!
