Richard I. Bong Museum Honors Victory Over Japan Day
SUPERIOR, Wis. – Today is the 80th anniversary of Victory Over Japan Day, marking the end of World War II.
During World War II, the United States dropped an atomic bomb over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Following this, Japan surrendered to the Allied powers, which became official on September 2, 1945,
Today in Superior at the Richard I Bong museum, they highlighted the importance of VJ Day.
“We offer the visitors a chance to really remember World War Two, and especially today, when people are so divided, I think that remembering a time when the whole world pulled together and worked together is really special, and the war affected every single person,” said Briana Fiandt, curator of collections and exhibits at Richard I. Bong Museum.
