Mayor Roger Reinert officially proclaimed Sept. 3rd as Workforce Development Day in the City of Duluth.

This day was chosen as a way to kick off Workforce Development month across Minnesota.

The proclamation highlights the efforts of the Duluth Workforce Center also known as CareerForce.

This is a program that helps people find jobs, training, and works with local employers to fill vacant positions.

“Anyone at all can come in and get help, looking for a job, applying for a job, accessing training, learning about what jobs are in demand out there. We help around 5000 people every year, just out of this location, sometimes even more. And you know, our staff are amazing. They’re dedicated. They’re here to help.” said Elena Foshay, Director of Workforce Development for the City of Duluth.

City council President Therese Tomanek delivered the proclamation as Mayor Reinert was unavailable.

The event was followed by their monthly job fair.
