Annual UMD Volunteer Fair Offers Students Opportunities
DULUTH, Minn. — The Kirby Ballroom was full of local organizations for a Volunteer Fair.
Put on by University Honors Student Association, UMD Engage, and the United Way, this fair helps students learn more about our community and make connections.
Students could meet with dozens of organizations to find the right volunteer opportunities for them.
“The whole point is to get a well-rounded education, to involve yourself in the community. And so, there’s organizations here that I have worked with for over a year, and that was a very rewarding experience for me. And so, I love seeing students come in and make those connections and get to meet with all these wonderful organizations. And I just. Everyone here is very deserving of it. So, it’s very exciting to see” said Samantha Longenecker, Volunteer Coordinator for the University Honors Student Association.
The volunteer fair is held in the beginning of the fall each year.
The fair helps students that are new to the area see what Duluth has to offer.
Students also had the opportunity to pack bags of food for those in need – read more here.
