Minnesota State Auditor announces she is not running for re-election
SAINT PAUL, Minn. — State Auditor Julie Blaha has announced she will not seek re-election.
In her announcement news release she said, “I’ve had the honor of serving as Minnesota’s State Auditor. My goals were to rebuild an office that was under attack and protect Minnesotans’ rights to make decisions in their local communities. I am proud to have accomplished those goals. Because the Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is in a strong position, 2027 will be the time to give that opportunity to someone new,” Auditor Julie Blaha said.
Auditor Blaha is Minnesota’s 19th State Auditor and has been in office since January 2019.
Short time after Blaha’s September 4th announcement, State Representative Dan Wolgamott and former Fergus Falls Mayor Ben Schierer both announced they would be running for the office.
Wolgamott, a DFLer from St. Cloud said, “I’ll work to address fraud in public spending, and to provide clarity on what’s happening with our money.”
Schierer, also a DFLer said, “I know how to build trust, form strong coalitions, and deliver results. As State Auditor, I will bring that same commitment to making sure every community, whether urban, suburban, or rural, has a voice in shaping our future.”
