DULUTH, Min. & LAKE ELMO, Min. – Bremer Bank has filed paperwork with the state of Minnesota saying they plan to lay off 244 employees.

All of those employees are at the Bremer Service Center in Lake Elmo.

The filing says the layoffs are “a result of the acquisition of Bremer with Old National Bank”.

The layoffs are expected to happen between October 24, 2025, and November 14, 2025.

FOX21 has asked Old National Bank if they expect more layoffs in Minnesota.

They responded by saying, “more than 900 former Bremer Bank team members continue with the combined organization.”

Their whole statement read, “From the beginning of the Old National Bank and Bremer Bank partnership, our combined leadership team has worked diligently to evaluate roles in an effort to create the best possible organizational structure for our clients and communities. As with most bank partnerships, some unavoidable duplication of roles and responsibilities has been identified. We are pleased to share that more than 900 former Bremer Bank team members will be continuing with the combined organization.

Throughout this evaluation process, we have focused on treating every team member with respect, transparency, and care. We also continue to work with individuals whose current job is being impacted to potentially identify other opportunities within the company.

Ultimately, Old National is committed to supporting all team members whose job is affected by this transition, including providing competitive severance packages and benefits, and outplacement services to help identify new employment opportunities.”
