Pho’holic Celebrates Opening Of Second Duluth Location

DULUTH, Minn.– A popular Vietnamese restaurant in Duluth has officially opened a second much-larger location on London Road.

Ever since China Cafe closed back in April, plans for this new expansion have been simmering.

“Yeah, got a lot going on. Super excited. The nerves are flowing, yeah, super excited just to be here,” said Elijah Nguyen, Manager Phoholic.

Six years ago, Duluthians became Pho ‘Holics after the restaurant opened on Central Entrance.

And over time, both popularity, and business grew. Maybe a little too much.

“Things went really well, and we decided to expand to get a second location,” said Nguyn. “A lot of people were complaining about the parking, the seating, so we wanted to get a spot that was a lot bigger, a lot more parking, a lot more space for dine in,”

Pho’holic is serving up the beloved pho. The bowl is filled to the brim with bone broth, and decorated with rice noodles, meatballs, and beef brisket.

To garnish, lots of people love to add lime, chili, cilantro and basil, which they grow in house.

And with a bigger space, that also brought in the opportunity for a bigger menu.

“I like the noodle salads, vermicelli noodle salads. They’re like rice noodles. And there’s different sort of toppings you can get with it. Um, those are really, well, I like the chicken curry too,” said Nguyen.

One of the customers said, they’re excited for the accessibility.

“It’s amazing. They can house more people in which is good for them. And then it makes it more relaxing and enjoyable. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I know the owner and my friends are their sons and stuff, so I’ve known about this for a while and been waiting for them to expand,” said Collin Wynn, a regular customer.

Winn said Pho ‘Holic is going to fit in yet stand out from the rest.

“It’s always good to get different cultures food instead of your Burger King, McDonald’s, you know, KFC, pizza and stuff like that. It’s nicer to be able to get different cultures, food to taste it,” said Winn.

“You know, these last few months we’ve worked so hard just to bring everything together and to kind of see it come into action. It’s an amazing feeling,” beamed Nguyen.
