2 Men Charged In Canal Park Robbery, Assault
DULUTH, Minn. – Two men accused of assault and robbery of a man in Canal Park have been charged in the crime.
Ra’Shawn Turner, 21, of Duluth and Camran Jones, 22, of Minneapolis are charged with first-degree aggravated robbery. A third suspect in this case is a 14-year-old boy.
The teen is known to the victim, according to authorities.
The criminal complaint said the teen approached the victim in his car parked in the Caribou Coffee lot and asked if the victim wanted to smoke some pot.
The teen got into the passenger’s seat, and Turner sat in the back on the driver’s side, according to authorities.
The criminal complaint went on to say the teen began punching the victim after saying they were going to take his belongs.
Turner is then accused of pulling the victim’s hoodie tight around his neck. The third suspect, Camran Jones, is accused of opening the driver’s-side door, wearing a ski mask and punching the victim in the face while threatening to kill him and demanding he open the trunk, according to the complaint.
The suspects eventually took off in a vehicle, according to the victim.
The victim went to Red Lobster in Canal Park to call 911 because he said the suspects took his cell phone.
Police eventually located the suspected vehicle on the run.
All three suspects were arrested.
The victim’s injuries were not life threatening.
