Man arrested accused of hitting acquaintance with vehicle leaving him to die

DULUTH, Min & SUPERIOR, Wis. – A Superior man is accused of fighting with an acquaintance leading to his death.

Charging documents say Alexander Logan Keller of Superior was fighting with Mathias Turbes at a residence in Gary New Duluth.

The documents say Keller and Turbes arrived at the Gary New Duluth residence to split property between the two of them and a person that lived in Gary New Duluth.

Keller and Turbes began fighting.

The other person went inside the home.

The two were fighting in and around an SUV.

The documents say in the early hours of September 11, 2025, Keller texted the person that lives in Gary New Duluth asking about the condition of Turbes.

The person that received the text had not recently seen Turbes.

Nearly six hours later two neighbors discovered Turbes’ body on the road.

The documents continued to read when officers talked to Keller, he told them he hit Turbes “pretty good” with his vehicle.

As of the afternoon of September 12, Keller was in the Douglas County Jail awaiting extradition to Duluth.
